How to Reinstall Microsoft Office From Windows Old

Rohn007

Office 2016 / 2019 / 365 licenses are tied to your email account. The product key is one time use. You use it to activate the license and associate it to your email account.  After that you manage you license through the MyAccount website.

2019 only allows install on one computer at a time. So on the new computer, login to the MyAccount site.  "Deactivate" the installation on the old computer and install on the new computer.

Deactivate Office 365

If you have an Office 365 subscription or 2016 or 2019 license, you can deactivate Office on a PC or Mac that you're no longer using. Deactivating an Office install doesn't uninstall Office, remove Office documents, or cancel your Office 365 subscription. It just removes your license from that computer to free it up to use on another computer.

Hi

You won't need a product key again. The "perpetual license," one-time purchase Office Home & Business, Office Home & Student, and Office Professional can only be installed on a single computer at a time. If you either want to move it to a different computer or reinstall after a repair to your current computer you need to first deactivate the initial install.

The method for doing this is shown here:

Hi Justin

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

The first thing you need to do is ensure the installation on the dead computer is deactivated.

Step 1:

From any computer, go to your Microsoft account, Installs page and sign in using your Microsoft account, if prompted.

https://account.microsoft.com/services/office/i...

Under PC/Mac installs used, locate the computer where you want to deactivate Office 365.

Select Deactivate to deactivate Office 365 on the PC or Mac.

Step 2:

Step 1 - Sign in to download Office

Go to http://www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.

Sign in with the account you associated with this version of Office. This account can be a Microsoft account, or work or school account.

Forgot your account details? See I forgot the account I use with Office.
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/i-forg...

On the Office home page, do the following depending on your version of Office.

If you signed in with a Microsoft account, from the Office home page select Install Office > Install. (Office 365 subscribers should select Install again).

This begins the download of Office. Follow the prompts on your screen to complete the install.

Best regards,
